Last night, the OCFSD school board met in a special meeting to discuss returning to Phase 1 (100-percent remote learning) as the Oak Creek burden rate increased to 430–exceeding the threshold of 350 for the criteria voted on by the board back in August.
Beginning October 19, 2020, OCFSD will return to Phase 1 (entirely remote learning). The district will remain in Phase 1 until it meets the criteria for Phase 2 (hybrid) learning again.
The meeting began with impassioned public comments from both sides of the aisle: those who want to stick to the plan to move to remote and those who want to continue having in-person instruction regardless of the burden rate. The board then talked to an official from the Oak Creek Health Department who answered some of their questions.
After hours of debate and conversation among the members, the board voted 4-3 to continue the plan they voted on in August. Beginning October 19, 2020, OCFSD will return to Phase 1 (entirely remote learning). The district will remain in Phase 1 until it meets the criteria for Phase 2 (hybrid) learning again.
