Feb. 6, 2021, brought mock trial’s annual regional conference. Mock trial is a nation-wide organization that provides an opportunity to witness a real-life trial for students who are interested in either law or drama. However, the “case” is a simulation that originates from a real court case. As participants in the simulation, students can hold roles as both “lawyers” and “witnesses.”
In the recent years, mock trial would take place in an actual courtroom, presenting law-interested students with an authentic trial setting. However, because of the pandemic, students had to endure an online regionals conference for mock trial. With mock trials already demanding grave amounts of time and dedication, students were tasked with taking up new challenges presented because of the pandemic. However, this didn’t stop students from excelling throughout their trials and 16-hour competition.
The senior team maintained a winning majority of 3-1, losing only to the presiding regional winners of 2021.
